On December 18 2006 Audiovideo Orpheus Ltd. received the annual award for Contribution, Popularization and Distribution of Bulgarian Film Art presented by Association Academica 21.

The company Audiovideo Orpheus Inc is property of the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Bulgaria . It was founded over 20 years ago with the aim of producing, preserving and distributing audiovisual products as well as presentation activities.

With DECREE № 162 of the National Assembly, dated 16 th May 2003 , the company has been included in the List in accordance to Art. 3, Paragraph 1 of the Law on Privatization and Post-Privatization Control and for those reasons it is not subject to privatization.

In 1995 the company Orpheus defined as its priority the development of new shooting facilities specialized in film and video productions on sound stage. Since that time by investing its own resources the company has managed to built four different sound stage facilities where it offers its services in the realization of films, advertisements, shows, TV games, numerous video-clips, photo sessions. In such a way it further establishes the specific, complex character of audiovisual products as a synthesis of image, sound and space, realized with the help of modern electronic equipment and artistic know-how.

Each year Orpheus sponsors and participates with creative and technical assistance in a number of important cultural events, such as the Art Festival Apollonia ; scientific publications of the National Theater and Film Academy , the film festivals Golden Camera , Love is Folly , Golden Rose and others.

It has established working relations with the Film and Television Department of the Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and has sponsored two of its international conferences – The Cinema of the 21 st Century – Art and Technology (1997) and Audiovisual Media and the Cultural Dialogue on the Balkans (2003). The company organizes on its premises art exhibitions, meetings with different artists, art presentations.

Audiovideo Orpheus Inc has a standing contract with the company PUPPET FICTION STUDIO - USA for the production of a package of puppet films and 3 already have been produced:

FANTASY CONCERTO , dir. K. Georgieva , USA – 2001 /BEST ANIMATION FILM - THESSALONIKI 2002 /

Audiovideo Orpheus Inc replicates and distributes on video cassettes Bulgarian feature and documentary films on the basis of a contract with the National Film Center and Filmautor. Since 2003 it offers those films in the Internet for Bulgarians abroad. Since 2004 it replicates digitally restored Bulgarian films on DVD.

 

After winning a tender in 2004 Audiovideo Orpheus Inc undertakes the scientific and creative leadership and management of the exceptionally important responsibility of restoration and conservation of the film archive of Bulgaria preserved by Bulgarian National Cinematheque.
